This is largely due to the brittle nature of Mahogany, the thin Gibson neck weakened further by the truss rod adjustment cavity and the Gibson headstock angle that could not withstand falling backwards. Older EBOs suffered from fractures at the headstock/neck join and at the control cavity. The EB0 bass was Gibsons top selling bass of the 1960s and 1970s.
